Latest Updates from Our Project:

Production, Playtesting, and Timelines
almost 2 years ago – Sat, Apr 30, 2022 at 09:49:05 AM

Hey Everyone!

Ray here with some exciting updates for the month. Let's get straight into it!

Production: Expansions + Stretch Goals

This month and next we're primarily working on the production of the game, with Emanoel working on finishing his two expansions, PRDTR and +WEIRD. Both already have preliminary work in place but still need to be completed out with the expanded format. The same goes for Cyberpunk Hunters by Catscratcher Studios and Mona Rise by Leonardo.

Revised Core Rules

Emanoel recently finished new versions of the core rules and playsheets! Find them here:

Core Rules (Work in Progress)

Character Playsheets (Google Sheets)

Playtesting

With the rules near complete, we're now actively looking for playtesters on the Mythopoeia Discord

If you would like to playtest CBR+PNK as either a GM or Player, please join the conversation! We've done some spring cleaning recently in anticipation of hosting you lovely lot, and would love to have you hanging out, discussing the game, and connecting with other players to test this iteration.

Make sure to assign the CBR+PNK role in #roles to see the relevant servers. Hope to see you there!

Timeline

Our target deadline for all aspects of production is the beginning of June. From there, it'll be off to the printers from which we can give an updated ETA on printing and delivery. Sorry for leaving things vague for now but we've learned that it's best to constantly communicate while not over promising.

That's it for now! Hope to see you all online! Next month we'll have previews (and hopefully pdfs) of the expansions.

Until then!

Push for Effect
about 2 years ago – Thu, Apr 07, 2022 at 01:43:35 AM

48 hours left

As we reach the final 48h of the campaign, we are marking lots of Stress boxes to make sure this last Push is a Critical!

 Augmented in Action

Ray already talked about our experience with the new mechanics in the previous update and I wanted to share with you all one of those: the Angle Roll. This version of the mechanic is adapted to the current version of the game, just to give you folks a taste.

Players take turns describing what happens after the Run, specifically the outcome of their Angle. How successful they manage to resolve their Angle is determined by an Angle Roll. On their turn, a player gathers their dice:

[+][+] if they achieved the main objective of the Run.
[-] if they overlooked or failed to comply with one or more critical requirements: time constraints, quality, integrity etc.
[-] if they left unresolved a critical threat.

If they end up with zero or fewer dice, roll 2 and keep the lowest.

Result
Crit: You did it in the most clean way possible. After all other players are done, choose one and offer them a hand - their result will be increased one step. Describe together how this works in fiction.

6: You got out of it mostly intact. Give a glance of what is next for your life.

4/5: You did it, but left an open thread - what was it?

1-3: Things don't go as planned and you resolve your Angle at a huge cost: something/someone loved, your ideals, yourself.

Check out these other projects I'm in!

Ossarium

Honestly I can't get enough Mork Borg in my collection and newyear Studios stuff is among my favorites, so I was thrilled when they offered me a spot as an strecth goal artist! Ossarium is not only a (very!) pretty book, it is also packed with flavor, comes with reference cards, animated VTT tokens AND 3D Printable miniatures!

MiniBx

Lucas Rolim is itchfunding a minimal fantasy RPG inspired by the Basic/Expert ruleset of the "dragon game" with neat twists! I'm working on one of the stretch goals, a mini-setting called "Nott, the Hidden Cidatel" but the last goal (a setting by Lucas himself) is yet to be unlocked.

Bits and Ends

Hey Everyone!

Ray from Mythopoeia here! I have the pleasure of publishing CBR+PNK, which is one of my favorite RPGs over the last two years. Back when Emanoel first released the PDF I bought a copy within the first 24 hours and ran my first game within that week. I was amazed at how much he was able to pack into a small and polished package, so it's been an absolute joy to bring a physical version of this game to life. Thank you all for the support and we hope you'll see that we're all about creating immersive worlds with the highest production values possible.

That said, I have some general updates that I'll get into:

FINAL SPECS

A lot of you have been asking about the reusability of the player sheets. This is something Emanoel and I have actively discussed. We're working with our printers to figure out what to do here. It's a bit of a balancing act with the finish of the paper ultimately contributing to the usability of the piece, but nonetheless we're looking into the feasability of things like lamination so that dry markers could possibly be used on the final product.

An example of dry erase tracks that Emanoel has mocked up.

EU VAT + IOSS

We've heard from a lot of EU backers asking about VAT-friendly shipping. While we currently don't offer VAT friendly shipping, we are actively looking into it now that it's been brought to our attention. We're centering our search on IOSS intermediaries and have been given several leads from our fulfillment partners. We also have the option of going through our existing fulfillment partners who would then bake in the cost of VAT into the other costs of shipping.

A note on what this means: at the end of the day, listing a project as "VAT friendly" doesn't necessarily mean that you would be paying any less on shipping. Usually that just means that VAT is baked into the amount of shipping a campaign charges, so that it's one transaction versus a shipping fee + an additional VAT fee to the government at a later time. So while it does make it more convenient in terms of not having to deal with additional fees, we as creators are not entirely convinced it saves backers any money. Still, we recognize that the convenience is something we should be facilitating so we're doing our best to learn about IOSS and include it when fulfilling this project.

In general, this year has been really challenging with the state of the world. Supply chains have been massively disruptive and things have become so incredibly expensive and tricky to navigate when it comes to shipping and taxes. Nonetheless, we're doing our best as a small business to adapt to the new reality of our world, including figuring out new global solutions.

Tony Plus One Actual Play

Emanoel and I had the chance to sit down and play some CBR+PNK last week! Check it out:

This was a fantastic game to play in and the first RPG I've gotten to run in months. Tony, Sammi, Emanoel, and Jeremy were wonderful players and the game legitimately made me remember how awesome tabletop is after not having much time to play  caught up with real life nonsense lately.

Thank you to Tony and the rest of the crew - I think we did a good job demonstrating the mechanics of CBR+PNK: Augmented with a scenario that personally was a blast to run.

 QuestHaven

Finally, to wrap up this update we wanted to give a shout out to QuestHaven, a new VR tabletop platform being developed by Mersis.

This particular project stuck out to me because one of my formative experiences in roleplaying games was Neverwinter Nights and the online community that formed around that game. Before I ever played TTRPGS in person I played online as a 13 year old through the various modules and persistent worlds created for that game.

QuestHaven reminds me a lot of those early experiences, and so when they approached us to cross promote I felt compelled to give them a shout given the context of the project, given my own journey in TTRPGs thus far, and the future of where the medium is going.

If it catches your fancy, check it out!

Thanks everybody! One week left in the campaign! Hope to finish strong and update with more news soon!
